Who are we?

Avantium is a company based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where we have created one of the most advanced chemical research laboratories in the world. We are specialized in "high-throughput experimentation". High-throughput experimentation is an advanced way of doing chemical R&D. It means that we can carry out many chemical experiments at the same time (hundreds or even thousands), at a very small scale (micro to milliliter), in an automated fashion (by using robots and computers).

This advanced way of doing research allows us to develop new products (such as fuels, chemical products and pharmaceuticals) and production processes much faster than by using traditional research methods. We are specialized in complex and unpredictable chemical sciences, such as catalysis and crystallization research. If a scientist cannot calculate or predict the outcome, he or she is greatly helped by a fast and efficient way of doing experiments!
