Avantium to present Tools product line at Pittcon 2007 in Chicago

Amsterdam, The Netherlands - 21 January 2007

Amsterdam based Avantium Technologies will present its Tools product line at Pittcon 2007 in Chicago. Avantium launched the sales of research Tools for faster and parallel experimentation in 2005. Customers of Avantium that were outsourcing research projects to Avantium showed serious interest in acquiring parts of Avantium’s workflow to increase their own R&D productivity. By installing research tools of Avantium they got access to proprietary high throughput experimentation technology and got acquainted with this proven, advanced research methodology. Erik Bentschap Knook, Vice-President Tools at Avantium Technologies, says: “All the R&D tools sold by Avantium are developed in house and have a track record of intensive use in our own laboratories for at least 5 years. This resulted in equipment showing extraordinary ease of use with a small footprint based on proven technology. We like to call it: “For scientists by scientists”. With dedicated sales and support on the ground in North America, Europe and Japan Avantium offers excellent customer service to its main markets”.

The Crystal16™ is a desktop parallel crystallizer for medium-throughout crystallization studies and is capable of running 16 crystallization experiments in parallel at 1-ml scale. Applications include solubility measurements, meta-stable zone width determination, and generation of single-crystals for structure determination. Pre-formulation scientists, chemical R&D and process chemists, but also by discovery chemists, can use the Crystal16™. For more information: www.crystal16.com

The Block96™ is a modular high-pressure reactor station that can be used for up to 96 parallel experiments, screening of catalyst and process parameters. It is used at Avantium for chemical process development projects executed for has been tested for a broad range of chemistries. For more information: www.block96.com
Flowrence™ is a parallel fixed bed reactor system suited for heterogeneous catalyst testing in gas and liquid phase, as well as trickle flow operation. Flowrence™ is based on Avantium's Nanoflow technology, used and optimized by Avantium to give high reproducibility and scalable date with a high level of automation and customized data-storage. The most distinctive feature of the Flowrence™ is that it combines the possibility to screen a range of catalysts on very small scale whilst working under industrial processing and hence scalable conditions. Typically Flowrence™ has 16 parallel reactors in 4 blocks of 4, an operation window for pressure of 1-100 bar, for temperature from 50 to 500 degrees C, with 4 temperature zones separately controlled for each block. Several features can be included. www.flowrence.com
