December 11, 2009 - Amsterdam, The Netherlands

On 10 December the Crystalline received the Dutch Good Industrial Design (GIO 2009) award at the annual award ceremony of the Dutch design network, Designlink.

The Crystalline is a parallel crystallizer which enables scientists to view crystallization processes real time. Avantium worked closely together with NPK for the industrial design of this instrument.

An independent jury of four leaders in industrial design evaluated all entries on five criteria specified by Designlink. The Crystalline achieved a maximum score on all five criteria: technical functionality, ergonomics, respect for human and environment, design and originality. The GIO award was assigned to the Crystalline in the category professional products. Other prominent recipients of the GIO 2009 awards are: Royal Auping, ATAG, Gazelle and Philips.
