Avantium, a leading chemical technology company and forerunner in renewable chemistry, announces the appointment of Michiel Boersma as Chairman of its Supervisory Board. Michiel Boersma succeeds Jan van der Eijk, who has been Chairman of the Avantium Supervisory Board since 2011 and will now become the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Synvina, the joint venture of BASF and Avantium.
Michiel Boersma is the former CEO of Essent and President of Shell Global Solutions. He currently holds the position of Chairman of the Supervisory Board of PostNL and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TMG (Telegraaf Media Groep). He is also Distinguished Professor Corporate Governance at TIAS, the business school of Tilburg University and Eindhoven University of Technology. Michiel Boersma holds a doctorate in chemical technology from Eindhoven University of Technology.
