Amsterdam, October 22 – CompactGTL and Avantium announce their successful collaboration  in Fischer-Tropsch and syngas-to-products chemistry. The work was done as part of CompactGTL’s programme of continuous improvement and was executed at the laboratories of Avantium in Amsterdam.

”We have been extremely pleased with the work that has been conducted at Avantium’, says Ross Morgan, IP/Commercial Manager at CompactGTL. “Their high throughput facilities and expertise have allowed us to rapidly evaluate options for further improvement of our commercially demonstrated GTL solution.”

“We are proud that CompactGTL has entered into this collaboration with Avantium’, commented Tom van Aken, CEO at Avantium. The key to success with CompactGTL is driven by the fully integrated approach: alignment of methodologies and teams to our mutual capabilities and needs. This allows CompactGTL to fully benefit from our advanced high throughput catalysis expertise while providing the best solutions.”

About CompactGTL

CompactGTL is a UK based company, backed by Coller Capital, which has developed the world’s only industry approved and operating, small scale, modular GTL technology that handles the problem of associated and stranded gas. Chaired by Dr Tony Hayward, Chief Executive of Genel Energy Plc and former Group Chief Executive of BP plc, the CompactGTL solution empowers the upstream industry to develop oil & gas fields previously considered uneconomic in remote (onshore and offshore) or deep water environments. CompactGTL clients include the Brazilian National Oil Company, Petrobras, and the French Supermajor, Total. CompactGTL has established partnerships with world class companies including Sumitomo Corporation, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Fluor, SBM Offshore and Johnson Matthey to meet demand for commercial projects. Sumitomo, in 2010, and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, in 2012, further cemented their partnerships by investing in the Company. The technology originated in the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) which amongst other things developed the Lithium ion battery. More information: www.compactgtl.com.
